20. The Rainy Season












In India the rainy season lasts from June to September.
It is known as the monsoons.
During this time the sky is covered with dark clouds.
We can also hear thunder and lightening.
It is very difficult to move out in the rainy season.
People use umbrellas, raincoats and gumboots to protect themselves.
There are puddles of water everywhere.
Frogs, earthworms and snakes come out in this season.
Rivers and streams get flooded, damaging trees,houses and crops.
But the rainy season can be fun, too!
Plants look lush green after the long dry summer months.
We also see a rainbow at times.
If we are lucky we can even see a peacock dancing.
