The Kauravas, Kama, Shishupaia, Jarasandha and Shri Krishna were present
at the swayamwara, when accompanied by her brother Dhrishtadyumna, Draupadi entered the pandal dressed in bridal finery.
With her unmatched beauty and elegance, she looked like an apsara. On seeing her, many princes missed a heartbeat. One by one, many kings and princes came forward to hit the eye of the fish with the bow and arrow. But none succeeded. Embarrassed and disappointed, they returned to their seats.
Shishupala, Jarasandha and Duryodhana also failed.
It was then that Kara came forward to try his luck. Everyone present thought that Kara would succeed in hitting the eye of the fish.
But Draupadi protested saying, "I will not marry a charioteer's son."
The assembly was stunned.
