One day, it was decided to perform the Rajasuya yagya.Yudhishthira said, "I wish to rule in peace. I do not desire to become the 'Emperor'."
But Bheema and Arjuna believed that contentment was a quality of a sage."A king must be ambitious," they said.
Shri Krishna said to Yudhishthira, "Except Jarasandha, all the kings will accept your supremacy. Hence, it is advisable to slay Jarasandha before performing the Rajasuya yagya."
Bheema slew Jarasandha. Yudhishthira performed the Rajasuya yagya. On the completion of the yagya, it was customary to honour the most worthy guest first. Bhishma suggested, "Shri Krishna should be honoured first."
But Shishupala protested. He began to hurl verbal abuses at Shri Krishna.
