The Lion had decided to go hunting and had also chosen Assy the Ass as his hunting companion to make use of his braying.
The ass, proud of being chosen as the Lion's companion, followed the Lion till they came to the side of a river in the jungle. Assy then allowed the Lion to camouflage Assy by covering him with leaves.
Then following the Lion's instructions, the ass, went and stood in the middle of a meadow.
At an agreed moment, Assy began to bray loudly. Terrified by the unusual din, the deer started running any which way they could. In this terrorized run some of them finished their run in the paws of the lion, which had a hearty meal.
When the hunt was finished Assy sauntered over to the Lion after shedding his coat of leaves
claiming credit for the great success of their joint venture.
" Easy does it," growled the Lion. " I have a taste for asses too!"
Assy, wise enough, did not press his point and left with his tail between his legs.
