NASSIRUDDIN AND GOD
Kwaja Nassiruddin offered namaz (prayers) every day. He prayed to Allah, "O Allah! Almighty! Please give me a thousand gold coins. I will not accept even a single coin less than what I have asked for."
Bade Miyan, The Kwaja's neighbor herd his prayers every day. Deciding to test the Kwaja one-day he put nine hundred and ninety-nine in bag and kept it at the place where the Khwaja offered his prayers.
The Khwaja was thrilled to see the bag when he came for his daily prayers. He opened the bag the bag and counted the gold coin inside. The Khwaja then kneeled down for his prayer and said, " O Allah! Why have you given me one coin less? I think you have made a mistake in counting. But please do pay me one coin later on." Khwaja Nassiruddin took the bag and put it in his safe.
Bade Miyan was shocked! He ran to the Khwaja and said, "Khwaja you are a liar. You had always told Allah that you would not accept even a single coin less than what you had asked for. There are only nine hundred and ninety-nine coins in that bag,"
The Khwaja said, "Bade Miyan, this is strictly between Allah and me. Please do not interfere in our business."
Bade Miyan fearing that his money was going to go said, " I had kept the bag of gold coins there. The coins belong to me. Please return them to its rightful owner."
The Khwaja calmly said, "What are you talking about? When did you give me the bag of gold coins? How dare you accuse me of taking your bag! Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Please go away from here."
Bade Miyan was however was not ready to leave without his bag full of gold coins. There was a heated exchange of words between the two and they started quarreling loudly.
After both of them went hoarse from shouting they decided to go to the Kazi, to seek justice.
The Khwaja said, "Bade Miyan, I am unable to walk. How will I go to the court?"
Bade Miyan, "Oh! I will give you a donkey to ride on."
Khwaja, " But Bade Miyan, I do not have coat to wear to court, and it is cold now."
Bade Miyan, " Come along will you.  I will give you my best coat to wear."
So both went to court with the Khwaja riding Bade Miyan's donkey and wearing his coat.
Bade Miyan narrated the whole story to the Kazi. The Kazi then asked Khwaja what he had to say.
The Khwaja said, " Kazi shaheb! Bade Miyan is a fraud. I did not ask him for anything, leave alone gold coins. Do you think that a person like him will give me gold coins just like that? Well I wouldn't be surprised if he now claims that this donkey I am riding and the coat I am wearing is also his!"
Bade Miyan immediately shouted, " Yes, Yes. This donkey belongs to me. The coat that Khwaja is wearing is also mine."
The Kazi now suspected that Bade Miyan was trying to pull a fast one. Reprimanding him he said, "How dare you accuse a virtuous man like Khwaja Nasiruddin? You should be ashamed of your greed and behavior! Get out of this court."
Bade Miyan, almost in tears, left the court without any further argument. His foolishness has resulted in his losing not only the gold coins but also his donkey and his best coat. He walked home beside the Khwaja riding his donkey and merrily singing to himself.
The next day Khwaja Nasiruddin went to Bade Miyan's house. He gave Bade Miyan the bag of gold, the donkey and his coat. He now addressed Bade Miyan and said, "My dear neighbor! From today on wards you must resolve never to interfere between Allah and his devotee."
Bade Miyan, happy to get back his money, donkey and coat said,
" Forgive me Khwaja shaheb. I realize my foolish mistake. The lesson you have taught me will make me mid my own business in the future. Thank you,"
