A hunter, fed up with the trouble creating foxes living in the forest close to his village, laid a spring trap to catch them. A fox came close to the trap and sniffed at the bait in it, which was prime meat. The fox, suspicious, about the visible trap went round and round it in an attempt to find out what the free food was all about. Whilst doing this his tail touched the trap and sprung it. The fox's tail was caught firmly in the trap. The fox struggled to escape which he managed to do but had to go without his tail which was cut off and left in the trap.
The fox whilst running home thought, " I have to entice the other foxes to get their tails cut as I do not want to be the only fox without a tail."
He started preaching the advantage of tailless-ness. " Why do we need tail?" he said " After all its only purpose is to enhance our looks whilst obstructing us during running and being an cacheable commodity for the hunters. I have undergone this problem and therefore have first hand knowledge and sincerely advise you to cut off you tails short."
